NSW 190 Requirements
To qualify for NSW state nomination for the 190 visa, you must:
- Meet 190 visa eligibility criteria.
This includes age requirements, English skills and sufficient score in the points test.
- Have a positive skills assessment in an occupation on the Skilled Occupation list.
- Meet residency requirements:
- For onshore applicants, you must have lived in NSW for at least six months
- For offshore applicants, you must have resided overseas for at least six months

NSW 491 Requirements
These are the basic eligibility requirements for NSW nomination:
- 491 visa Home Affairs eligibility criteria
You must satisfy age requirements, have competent English skills, and score at least 65 on the points test.
- Suitable skills assessment for an eligible occupation on the Skilled Occupation List.
- Residency requirements:
- For onshore applicants, you must have lived in NSW for at least three months
- For offshore applicants, you must have resided overseas for at least three months
Sectors Prioritised in the NSW Skilled Occupation List
Majority of occupations that were sent invitations are part of the state’s priority sectors:
- Health registered nurse, Medical administrator, etc.
- Education – Special education teacher (nec), university lecturer, etc.
- IT & Communications – Software engineers, ICT security specialist, etc.
- Infrastracture – Civil engineers, mechanical engineers, etc.
- Agriculture – Agricultural engineers, vegetable grower, etc.
While the NSW Government primarily focuses on these industries, highly qualified individuals in other industries may still be issued invitations.
How much is the fee for NSW nomination?
For onshore applications, the fee for NSW nomination is AUD 330 (including GST). On the other hand, offshore application costs AUD 300.
