The roots of higher education provider Navitas stretch back to the 1970s. In the early 1990s, it pioneered an innovative university partnership model of education in Perth. Today, it has many branches and, in its own words, reaches “more than 70,000 aspirational learners at more than 120 colleges and campuses across [their] global network each year, powered by a diverse and talented group of 7000 employees”.
One branch, Navitas Professional, focuses on helping graduates and young professionals to access work placements.
Fresh graduates have often faced the problem not of a lack of job opportunities but a lack of professional experience. Navitas’ Professional Year Programs in Accounting and Engineering aim to plug this gap in the resumes of newly graduated students.
Navitas offers these PY Programs in eight locations: Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney.
The Engineering Program consists of training and an internship placement to provide a pathway from study to employment in Australia. The Program includes 32 weeks of coursework covering such things as job search skills and simulated workplace training, as well as a 12 week full-time internship.
The Accounting Professional Year Program was developed by CPA Australia, the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA). It is structured similarly to the Engineering Program.
