In the latest update regarding NT invitation round, the NT Government has ceased accepting new applications for general skilled migration nominations for the program year 2023-2024.

NT Invitation Round: 190 and 491 Visa Nominations
Below is the total number of nominations and the remaining nomination places left for the 190 and 491 visas.

With new state applications closed for the current program year, nominations will be awarded to qualified applicants from the existing pool of applications.
Minimum Requirements for NT Nomination
Whether you’re securing nomination for the 190 or 491 visa, you must first meet these minimum requirements:
- be under 45 years old
- have a positive skills assessment in your chosen occupation
- demonstrate ‘competent’ English
- achieve 65 points or higher in the skilled migration points test
- meet the NT Government’s skilled migration criteria below
NT 190 Visa Requirements
The 190 visa application is generally only for onshore applicants. To be eligible for 190 visa nomination:
- You must apply onshore.
- You must not have been already nominated for a 489 or 491 visa.
- You (and any dependant) must currently reside in Northern Territory.
- You (and any dependent) must have completed studies in an NT institution.
NT 491 Visa Requirements
491 visa nominations apply to both offshore and onshore visa applicants. You can take one of the three pathways below to secure nomination:
Priority Occupation Stream
To be eligible, you must:
- have a full migration skills assessment in an occupation listed on the Northern Territory Offshore Migration Occupations List (NTOMOL)
- have post-qualification work experience for an occupation on the NTOMOL (at least 1 year, generally)
Family Stream
To be eligible, you must:
- have a family member/relative who:
- is an Australian citizen or permanent resident, an eligible New Zealand citizen, or holder of one of these visas: 491 visa, 494 visa, 489 visa, bridging visa for an 887 or 191 visa.
- has lived in NT for at least 12 months and usually resides there
- is willing to provide you (and your dependants) with assistance in finding accommodation and seeking employment opportunities in NT
- present proof that you’ve actively sought employment in NT (e.g. job applications, contacting NT employers, etc.)
NT Job Offer Stream
To be eligible:
- You must have a verifiable job offer from an NT business or organisation that has operated for at least 12 months
- This job must be in your nominated occupation or a closely related one
- The job offer must reflect that the prospective employer has a genuine need for an offshore applicant to fill the position
Note: Offshore applicants, regardless of stream, must show evidence of financial capacity to settle in NT.
NT Migration Occupation List
Applicants for NT state nomination must have a skilled occupation on the Skilled Occupation List.
However, offshore applicants in the Priority Occupation Stream must qualify for occupations in the Northern Territory Offshore Migration Occupation List (NTOMOL).
