The Student Visa lets you visit Australia to study in an eligible course at a registered educational institution in Australia. The Visa allows students to study for the duration of your proposed course. The student must have a confirmation of enrolment from an educational institution in Australia before lodging the Visa. The study can be in any division–ELICOS; Primary and Secondary School; Vocational Education and Training; Higher Education; Postgraduate research; and Non-Award Courses. With very few exceptions, it requires you to get enrolled in the course of study which is registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).

Alternatively, you can provide evidence that your parents or your partner had a personal annual income of at least AUD62,222 in the 12 months immediately before you apply. If you bring family members, you must demonstrate your parents’ or partner’s income is at least AUD72,592.
If both your parents are working, their combined income can be considered for the application. Provide evidence of your parents’ or partner’s income in the form of official government documents such as tax assessments less than 12 months old. DOHA won’t accept bank statements or direct evidence from an employer.

Use the first 12 months of your course fees. If your course is 12 months or less, use the total cost. Deduct any expenses you have already paid – you must provide evidence you have paid them, such as a receipt or Confirmation of Enrolment.

Every student visa applicant must provide evidence that they are a genuine temporary entrant (GTE). All applicants must show they are coming to Australia temporarily to gain a quality education.
You must provide a personal statement addressing the GTE requirement at the time of your visa lodgement. It is recommended that you include evidence for the information you provide in your written statement. Generic statements unsupported by evidence will not be weighed heavily in the GTE assessment.
Include as much information and evidence as possible in your GTE statement to help give a full view of your situation. This will help DOHA decide on your student visa application.
